It’s been a long time coming, but finally an update on all the happenings in Marla and Mark’s lives including their wedding in May, 2008! With much anticipation that has built since their engagement in July, 2007, Marla and Mark Townsley were married on May 31, 2008! Many friends and family gathered to celebrate this milestone in the lives of these two amazing people.

The event took place at the beautiful and historic First Presbyterian Church in downtown Glenwood Springs. The ceremony was celebrated by Pastor Lem Harr of Trinity Baptist Church which Marla and Mark attend in Glenwood. Marla looked radiant in her bridal gown, and Mark tall and handsome as ever in his tuxedo. Marla’s good friend Leigh Phipps served as Maid of Honor, with Mark’s brother Brian serving as Best Man.

Marla and Mark were blessed by the many friends and family who have supported them on their journey together as they joined them in celebration of the union of their lives and families. The ceremony was very warm and sweet, and there were few dry eyes as Mark strummed his guitar and sang his caring song of love that he wrote for Marla. Marla’s family cried with joy and pride as she did such an amazing job of speaking her vows of honor and love to Mark.

Spirits were high after the ceremony as everyone gathered at the Glenwood community center to enjoy a wonderful meal planned, prepared, and served by Annie and Bob Brooks, amazing friends to the family who worked tireless hours to serve over 100 guests as their gift to the newlyweds. Marla and Mark were so happy to get the chance to receive their loved ones and share smiles, laughs and stories together as they caught up on each other’s lives during the reception. The love that this couple shares was evident by their look as they gazed into each other’s eyes during their dance together. Tears welled up again as Leo shared a dance with Marla, and Mark danced together with his mother Helen.

The next day, Marla and Mark flew to Los Angeles for their honeymoon. They stayed at the home of Marla’s Aunt and Uncle Bauer - as a base from which they enjoyed fun trips up to San Francisco and down to San Diego!

They didn’t have much time to rest upon their return to Colorado, as they moved in together into their new house in New Castle, about five minutes down the road from where Mary and Leo live. They are enjoying their new life together and feel comfortable and warmly embraced by the community of their Church. Mark has worked hard to landscape the yard of their home. Marla continues to work hard on her tutoring in reading and speech, all the while staying busy with her work as a teaching assistant at the New Creation preschool. She is adored by the children, and she is exuberant at being back in her element working with kids.
