The family spent Christmas together with Leo's sister Margaret in Tempe, Arizona. It was a pleasant outing to admire the stately Saquaros at the Phoenix Desert Botanic Garden.
Mark and Marla touring the amazing snow sculptures at the international competition in Breckenridge. This was the winning entry, from a Breckenridge team, of a puppy playfully looking at himself in a mirror!
Marla gets to meet the newest member of the family! Nicole and husband Nick, are expecting a girl, in the next 6 weeks or so!
The Santa Catalina mountains form a panoramic backdrop to the desert plants in the backyard of the Tucson home of family friends Linda and Roger Cracraft, where Marla, Mary and Leo visited shortly after Christmas.
Marla and cousin Nicole, from Nashville, together again! Marla had fun visiting Nicole in Denver, where she was visiting to attend the wedding of one of her good childhood friends.
Debbie McKenna, family friend, and a counselor at Sopris Elementary School in Glenwood Springs, assists while Marla sorts through the vast array of teaching materials she had put together during her career teaching elementary school. Although it was hard for Marla to let go, she decided it was time that these hard-earned childrens books, art supplies, and learning materials, again benefit as many students as possible. Towards this end, she donated these materials by holding an open house for teachers at Sopris Elementary, welcoming them to use them as they see fit.
Mary, Leo, and Marla enjoy the view of the mountains from the front door of their new home in New Castle. Mary has bandaged feet from her fall 2005 foot surgery. Poor footsies!
Just some of the boxes that Marla donated. One of the Sopris teachers, Mr. Pluger, was so touched by Marla's obvious dedication to her students, that he decided to continue teaching for at least another year (his plan had been to retire at the end of this school year).
Marla and her friend Frank, a buddy from swimming at the hot springs, looking down on Glenwood Springs from the top of the tramway to the Glenwood Caverns.
Marla enjoying a visit from Marla Miller, her husband Chadd, both friends from high school, and their children.
